About me 

Name: Jo-Rosie Haffenden 

Age: We're not going to do that...

Hobbies: PSA, horse riding, boxing and hanging out with my 7 year old

Pets: I have four dogs: 2 x working malinois, a bulldog x boxer and a Hungarian vizsla. 

Super power: I can critique a science paper QUICKTIME and I am good applying scientific concepts to mechanical skills and generating innovative training interventions.

On paper I have a Degree in applied psychology, did my post grad in animal behaviour and I have a national certificate in the Training of Journalism (NCTJ)

The experience to go with it

  • Director of an International School of Canine Science 

  • Approved Expert Witness for the CPS (United Kingdom)

  • Worked for a large National animal welfare charity 

  • Worked for a large private canine behaviour consultancy 

  • Ran a medium sized dog training and behaviour practice 

  • Presented and contributed to multiple TV shows including presenting or co-presenting Rescue Dog to Super Dog (Channel 4); Teach My Pet (ITV); and Train Your Baby like a dog (Channel 4) and a new show out Summer 2024.

  • Published three books (Teach Your Dog, Teach Your Cat and The Real Dog Yoga) 

  • Spoken internationally (including across the UK, Europe, America and New Zealand) at conferences and hosted events on topics such as Resource Guarding, Predation, Separation Anxiety and Dog Bites

  • Requested to speak as an expert in The Houses of Parliament four times

The Canine Paradigm

Super Australian Trainers Pat Stuart and Glen Cooke invited Jo on their podcast twice. The first time was with Nando and they discussed shock collar bans and why balanced trainers and reinforcement based trainers need to stop fighting.
